Sardinia

Sardinia, the unmissable island

Sardinia, facing Corsica, where it can even be seen on a clear day in the far north of the island, particularly at Santa Teresa Gallura, is a gem not to be missed.

I chose Olbia, where the airport is located, as my base and rented a car to explore the island.

In the central-eastern part, I didn't go beyond Cala Goloritzé, and in the central-western part, beyond Bosa.

Therefore, I didn't visit the south of the island, where Cagliari is located.

However, I explored the central and northern parts of the island extensively, using various routes, alternating between highways and much more rural roads.

So I stopped in Santa di Baunei and Orgosolo, then followed the coast as far as I could up to Olbia, passing through dozens of fantastic spots with breathtaking ocean views.

This eastern part of the island is sandier than the western part, which is a bit rockier, but on either side of the island you'll find a multitude of fantastic swimming spots.

On the west side, I went up from Bosa to Santa Teresa Gallura, again following the coast as closely as possible, and it was simply extraordinary.
